Although these baskets are quite perfect on their own, we are often asked to add a bottle of wine or spirits to enhance the experience. We’ve made suggestions throughout this book, when we think a particular bottle marries well with a basket, but feel free to make your own choices. We’ve tried to offer a range of styles and values here and it is our hope that you will find something to suit your taste.

Located next door to Eli’s Manhattan, Eli’s sliver of a wine store, reflects his passion for carefully made wines from small growers. Eli likes a wine that reflects the personality of the wine maker. And if it’s organic or biodynamic, all the better. His preference is always for the Burgundies and the Côtes du Rhônes that he loves, but carefully made wines from around the world are well represented at W.I.N.E.
